FAQs

1. Do you do exterior cleaning, such as patios & building facades?

We do not offer exterior cleaning as a service.

2. How long does the stone restoration process typically take? & will there be much disruption?

The duration varies based on the size and complexity of the project. We aim to minimise disruption as much as possible. We work in small sections at a time or on large projects we will complete one area/room at a time

3. Do you provide onsite consultation & quotations?

Initially we will ask you to complete the enquiry form listed on our website, the questions are designed to help us deal with your enquiry as efficiently as possible. From this information we can provide you with an estimated cost and the process involved, the next step is to then arrange an onsite visit to complete a full assessment & quotation.

4. What issues can be addressed through stone restoration?

We can address common issues such as scratches, stains, etching, dullness, and uneven surfaces through our restoration processes.

5. How often should I consider stone restoration?

The frequency depends on factors like foot traffic, usage, and the type of stone. Generally, it's recommended every 12-18 months to have your stone surface assessed.

6. How often should I consider stone restoration?

These marks, often referred to as "stun marks" or crystal damage, occur when pointed objects, like high heels, impact the marble surface. They can penetrate deep into the stone and are most likely irreversible.

7. Does the restoration & polishing process create dust?

The dust-free restoration system utilises controlled water application to maintain the coolness of diamond resins while resurfacing the stone, producing a slurry. Subsequently, a wet vac is used to remove the slurry, and a splash guard on the floor machine prevents splashes. Additionally, adjoining floor surfaces are protected.

8. What type of mop and cleaning system should I use?

For small to medium-sized areas, I would recommend a flat mop system that utilises a built-in spray system. This ensures that you are not over-wetting the floor. For larger areas, the vileada professional speed mop system is great. It is important not to over wet the floor, and use the correct dilution rate as too much Detergent will build up a residue/patina to the floor, making your floors resoil quicker, also regularly change the cleaning pad/solution before they look dirty.

Should I have my natural stone floor polished to a high shine or a matt finish?

The desired finish will depend on your aesthetic preferences, but there are pros & cons for both finishes to take into consideration. A Honed, matt finish provides a more organic look and feel to the stone, however it will leave the stone with a higher porosity level, but less prone to showing scratches/etch marks, it will require more frequent sealing.

Can I use a steam mop on my natural stone floor?

We don't recommend using steam cleaners on stone floors, due to the heat and pressure, it can have a detrimental effect on natural stone, causing the following problems:

Spalling - can cause pitting/flaking to the stone surface

Sealer Removal - the heat can effect and remove the impregnating sealer.
